Researchers team up with Major League Baseball to keep players healthy

A new study conducted at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy looks at the risk factors baseball players face when it comes to upper-extremity injuries to the leg, core and arms during spring training, with the goal of being able to predict injuries before they happen.

Sofia Gruskin named director of USC Institute for Global Health

Sofia Gruskin, JD, MIA, has been appointed director of the USC Institute for Global Health. A professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC with a joint appointment at the USC Gould School of Law, Gruskin is internationally recognized for her work in global health, in particular her research to foster effective public health policy and programs at the intersection of health, human rights, gender and sexuality.

MRI scanner could revolutionize diagnosis, treatment of brain tumors

When a USC alumna learned she had a brain tumor that was so small it would not appear on an MRI, she turned to her former neurosurgery professor Gabriel Zada, MD, who teamed up with several colleagues to test out a new tool available at the USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute: an ultra-high field 7Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner.
