2020 Nurses Week awards recognize nurses for courage, capability and compassion

At a time when nurses and their dedication to patients are in the news every day, it's more important than ever to acknowledge their hard work, bravery and generosity of spirit. In honor of Nurses Week, executives gathered to pay tribute to the organization's nursing staff at its annual Nurses Week Recognition and Scholarship Awards ceremony. How Keck Medicine of USC is moving forward

While the pandemic is not over yet, public health officials have approved careful reopening of some businesses and service-providing organizations. Following these guidelines, Keck Medicine is gradually resuming services for necessary, time-sensitive procedures. But there is still work to be done on the COVID-19 front. In that spirit, Keck Medicine is launching a clinical trial to test an anti-inflammatory drug as a possible treatment for moderate to severe cases of the disease. Yu awarded Era of Hope Scholar Award from the U.S. Department of Defense

For her innovative work with rare, circulating breast cancer cells, Min Yu, PhD, has received the prestigious Era of Hope Scholar Award. This $4.95 million award from the U.S. Department of Defense supports gifted early-career scientists making extraordinary contributions in the fight against breast cancer.

Dopheide earns Saklad Award for accomplishments in psychiatric pharmacy

Julie Ann Dopheide, PharmD, professor of clinical pharmacy, psychiatry and the behavioral sciences, received the 2020 Judith J. Saklad Memorial Award from the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) on May 1. The award recognizes Dopheide's professional distinction in the practice of psychiatric pharmacy.
