Commencement 2019: Information about the Health Sciences ceremonies

The 136th Commencement at the University of Southern California begins at 8:30 a.m. May 10 at Alumni Memorial Park and individual school ceremonies will follow the main ceremony. Existing and new construction projects ongoing on Health Sciences Campus

Administrators recently offered an update on a variety of construction projects affecting the Health Sciences Campus community, including the status of the beautification project, parking improvements and street closures.

Vaughn Starnes appointed 100th president of American Association for Thoracic Surgery

Vaughn A. Starnes, a pioneering, internationally renowned cardiothoracic surgeon, has been appointed president of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) for 2019-2020.

Lead contamination found in baby teeth of children living near Exide battery plant

Airborne lead from recycled car batteries at the Exide plant in Vernon ended up in the baby teeth of children living nearby, a USC study shows. The plant, located southeast of downtown Los Angeles, recycled 11 million auto batteries per year and released 3,500 tons of lead until it closed in March 2015.
