Festival of Life offers inspiration for cancer survivors as they move ahead

USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center hosted the Festival of Life on June 4 to honor the strength and tenacity of cancer survivors. The event, the first to be held in person since 2019, featured inspirational speeches, a symbolic releasing of doves and a "tree of life" where patients, survivors and loved ones could leave personal messages.

Study: Extreme heat and air pollution create deadly combo

Deaths are 21% more likely on days that have both extreme heat and elevated air pollution, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. This synergistic effect is almost double the impact of the individual exposures combined, a team of USC researchers has found.

On June 14, the USC School of Pharmacy hosted its annual Preceptor Appreciation Reception to thank pharmacists from across the city who mentor the school's PharmD students at their own practice locations. Five preceptors and the pharmacy at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center were recognized with awards.
