Concepción Navarrete was worried about her health. At 63, the mother of two adult children was pre-diabetic and had high blood pressure, but didn't know what to do about it. That all changed after her Zumba teacher told her about a new USC pilot study that could benefit the health of rural, middle-age Latinos.

Physicians of Keck Medicine of USC and Children's Hospital Los Angeles have been recognized by Pasadena Magazine in its annual Top Doctors issue. This year, 281 physicians associated with Keck Medicine of USC, including 120 Keck School of Medicine of USC faculty who practice only at CHLA, were included in the magazine's 2018 roster of Top Doctors.

New research could change robotic surgery in the future

USC researchers are looking to technology to help deconstruct expert surgeons' robotic surgery skills so they can create an objective, standardized way to train the next generation of surgeons. Using a data recorder plugged into a robotic surgery system, the team analyzed expert and novice surgeons' movements to create a training tutorial.

George Benton, 88, lived for his wife, Norma. Theirs was a 63-year love affair. Thanks to exceptional care at Keck Hospital of USC and from his occupational therapist 'angel,' he now remembers his late spouse fondly following a string of harrowing physical hurdles he had to overcome.
