Soot and dust in smoggy cities alters thyroid development in fetuses, raising concern about health impacts later in life, new USC research shows. It means that before a doctor cuts the umbilical cord or a parent hugs a baby, the caress of air pollution already reached the womb's inner sanctum.

William Martin "Marty" Sargeant has joined Keck Medicine of USC as chief operating officer of Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital. Sargeant oversees all operating initiatives for the two hospitals and comes to Keck Medicine with more than 20 years of leadership experience in the health care industry.

Pharmacy student wins prestigious Krown Fellowship

Doctoral student Jordanna Jayne is the recipient of the 2018-2019 Charles and Charlotte Krown Fellowship, the most prestigious award given to graduate students in the USC School of Pharmacy. Originally from the United Kingdom, Jayne is investigating new potential treatments for cystic fibrosis lung disease.
