With a $50 million gift, USC and UC San Diego join forces in Alzheimer's research

A joint gift to USC and the University of California, San Diego, totaling $50 million from the Epstein Family Foundation will drive Alzheimer's research and accelerate the search for treatments and a cure. The gift will be split evenly, with $25 million going to each institution.

Humayun among three USC faculty named 2021 AAAS fellows

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has elected USC professors Mark Humayun, Yannis Yortsos and Andrea Armani to become AAAS fellows in 2021. The council designates members with this distinction whose "efforts on behalf of the advancement of science, or its applications, are scientifically or socially distinguished."

Cancer Moonshot funds will help USC researchers reduce health disparities in cancer research

With support from a five-year, $18.5 million grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), as part of the Cancer Moonshot, researchers at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center are working to close the gap in our understanding of colorectal cancer in Hispanic patients.

A Keck Medicine of USC infectious disease specialist discusses best practices for mask selection. Children's Hospital Los Angeles is recruiting children and young adults to study the long-term effects of COVID in these age groups after receiving an NIH grant. And a new USC study shows that herd immunity is unlikely, as more than 70% of L.A. County adults had antibodies or were vaccinated before the delta and omicron surges.
