How the vaccines were allocated may be a factor when vaccine-hesitant individuals refuse the vaccine once it is available, a new study finds. And asthmatics who have their illness well under control have less severe COVID-19 outcomes than those with uncontrolled asthma.

Two studies find disparities for transplant recipients and candidates

Two Keck Medicine studies have found disparities among transplant patients and candidates. Black recipients of liver transplants have lower post-transplant survival rates than white or Hispanic patients. And patients with lower incomes and education levels, on public health insurance, or who were nonwhite were more likely to die while on the transplant wait list and less able to access live-donor organs.
